Central Office Installation

Outsource Telecom supplies the following levels of installers to install switch and transport equipment in Telecommunications Central Offices nationwide:

Level I Level I installers have 6 months - 2 years of experience. Level I's pull, place, lace/stitch high pair copper, power, and fiber optic cables in telecommunications central offices. In addition, they assist in mounting, leveling, and aligning central office equipment bays in accordance with plans and specifications. Also assist in installation of basic ironwork, fiber tray installation, and earthquake bracing.
Level II Level II installers have 2 - 4 years experience. In addition to the tasks performed by level I installers, Level II's install and secure transmission and switching equipment such as DACS, Muxes, OC-48s etc. into central office racks and frames. Responsible for terminating high pair telecommunications cable to transmission equipment and blocks performing wire wrapping and BNC connections terminations as well as dressing cable and wire management. Familiar with installation of various manufacturers of transmission and switching equipment such as Lucent, Nortel, Fujitsu, Alcatel, Tellabs, Cienna, etc.
Level III Level III installers have 5 - 6 years of experience. In addition to the takes performed by Level II installers, Level III's are experienced in terminating fiber optic cables to patch panels as well as to central office transmission equipment. In addition, perform termination of DC power cables to transmission equipment. Assist in performing testing, commissioning, test and turn-up of installed equipment. Remove, decommission obsolete or malfunctioning transmission equipment.
Level IV Level IV installers have 6 - 10 years of experience. Generally referred to as the "In Charge", Level IV installers are responsible for creating the MOP (Method of Procedure) and are responsible for providing work assignments to the lower level installers that report to him. Performs installations of central office batteries and terminates DC power cables to the BDFB. Responsible for communicating job progress, proposed changes to scope of work, as well as materials and labor needs to project engineer. Responsible for testing, commissioning, test, and turn-up of all equipment installed within the scope of work.


DC Power

Outsource Telecom supplies the following levels of installers to Tier One DC Power Contractors nationwide:

DC Power Installer These installers are equivalent to Central Office Installers Level I - III on the transport / switch installation scale described above. These installers run, pull, place, and stitch DC power cable in Central Offices. They will also perform H-Taps on DC power cables.
DC Power Technician These technicians are equivalent to Level IV Central Office Installers on the transport / switch installation scale described above. DC Power Technicians manage crews of DC Power Installers by providing work assignments, coaching and instructing, and evaluating work performance. They possess a thorough knowledge of AC and DC power. They terminate power cables to transport and switch equipment as well as to the BDFB. They have experience installing equipment manufactured by Marconi, Emerson, Tyco, PECCO, Valere etc. Experienced in creating MOPS, reading blueprints and schematics. Installation of Central Office batteries and rectifiers. Also experienced in testing network power systems.
